How I.C.E. Works

What is ICE?
In case of emergency (ICE) is a program that enables first responders, such as a good samaritan, paramedics, fire-fighters, police officers, as well as hospital personnel, to obtain your name, necessary health information and communicate with next of kin or your emergency contacts.

To assist first responders in being able to provide you with the best possible initial response and/or care in the event that you require urgent care or are not responsive, the information on your ICE Wallet Card could help save your life and/or make the difference between good or bad quality of response to the situation.

Which is why your ICE Wallet Card should be the first card they see in your wallet or on your person.

Once your next of kin and other persons listed on your account have been contacted, they will be able to communicate with the first responder and each other to offer guidance, information and support to the first responder and each other on how to deal with the situation going forward.

How it Works

You will need to create an account on and complete your ICE account registration by providing relevant details your would like to relay to a first responder including your health information, your primary, secondary and other contacts your would like to be contacted in the event of an emergency.

Once you have completed registration, you will be able to download and print your own ICE Card which should be carried with you an placed in the most likely place a first responder would look, your wallet or handbag.

This is the basic overview of the free account:

  1. Print your free ICE Card and carry it with you.
  2. In the event of an emergency (accident or medical situation), using your ICE Card, a first responder will be able to obtain relevant information and make contact with your next of kin conveniently.
  3. Your next of kin will be able to assist the first responder by phone to immediately and assist in dealing with the situation.
  4. Any time you update your contact info or medical information, you will need to reprint a new card.

A quick and planned response to any crisis can make the difference between life and death. Your ICE Card is your first line of defence and your Guardian Angel in an emergency.
